Facelift Procedure

A facelift may be performed while the patient is under local or general anesthesia. There are different types of facelift incisions. Facelift involves incisions made at the hairline, behind the earlobe or slightly behind the ear, and sometimes, another incision is made under the chin. The surgeon trims excess tissue, tightens facial muscles and red rapes the skin, eliminating many of the cheek folds and jowls. Most facelift procedures have scars that are normally hidden within the folds of the skin and by the hairline, and will fade over time.

The facelift surgery procedure usually takes 2 to 3 hours and may involve a hospital stay of up to two days. Swelling and bruising caused by the facelift cosmetic surgery should subside within 2 to 4 weeks. It is important not to engage in regular aerobic and more vigorous activities for the first five days after surgery. Most patients can return to normal daily activities within 3 weeks of facelift surgery.

Facelift is one of the best options if you are starting to notice the fine lines and wrinkles appearing on your face. In facelift procedure, a person's face skin is tightened to give a younger looking appearance. For most patients, the results of a facelift surgery are lasting–sometimes up to ten years. However, remember that facelift procedure does not stop the ageing process.
